There was evidence of real growth from midfielder Kristjan Asllani in Inter Milan’s Serie A win over Fiorentina.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who praise the ex-Empoli midfielder’s mature display.

Asllani’s talent has never been in question since he joined Inter in the summer of 2022.

The Albanian’s technical ability and range of passing have always looked impressive for his age.

Less certain has been Asllani’s ability to turn that into consistent performances in the demanding regista position.

The 21-year-old has sometimes looked tentative and tactically uncertain in his performances.

And defensively, the commitment hasn’t always been there.

But yesterday against Fiorentina, there was zero sign of any of that from Asllani.

Signs Of Growth From Kristjan Asllani In Inter Win Vs Fiorentina

Yesterday’s match against Fiorentina was hardly an easy one for Asllani.

In possession, the 21-year-old had to play through relentless pressure every time he got on the ball.

It was not easy for Asllani to find open options with Fiorentina’s relentless man-marking. But he showed the ability to spot a pass, and to hold onto the ball to give himself time.

This allowed Inter to slow down the tempo and get some breathing room when Fiorentina were trying to put the pressure on them.

And defensively, it was even more difficult for Asllani.

La Viola were pushing Inter back all match.

Therefore, the Albanian international needed to get his positioning right to avoid leaving spaces in dangerous areas in front of the Nerazzurri penalty area.

And Asllani largely did just that.

Meanwhile, the 21-year-old also showed no lack of physicality or commitment with his tackling.

Asllani made a number of vital blocks and interceptions in the second half as Inter saw out their lead.

It was certainly not the performance of an inexperienced and naive midfielder.
