Midfielder Kristjan Asllani wants to keep taking on more responsibility at Inter Milan.

The 21-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, following the Nerazzurri’s 1-0 win over Fiorentina. He downplayed the idea that the match was an “exam” for him.

Asllani got what was a rare start for him this evening against Fiorentina.

In fact, it was the first time that the Albanian international had started in Serie A this season.

It is not easy for Asllani to get much playing time with a teammate like Hakan Calhanoglu holding down the starting position in the team.

But the Turk missed out on this evening’s match. He picked up a suspension due to a yellow card during the Supercoppa Italiana.

So the responsibility fell on the shoulders of Asllani.

And for his part, the former Empoli midfielder is happy that it did.

Asllani’s performance showed that he did not have any lack of self-belief or maturity.

The Albanian helped Inter to a gritty 1-0 win, putting in a solid shift on both sides of the ball.

Kristjan Asllani: No “Exams” – Wants “Responsibility” At Inter

Asllani said after this evening’s match that “My teammates congratulated me. But it was not a ‘final exam.'”

“I have to take responsibility,” the 21-year-old continued.

“This is a fantastic team and a fantastic group,” he went on.

Asllani said that “Lautaro is a true captain. One of the first to help me, to lift my mood every day.”

“Even during the transfer window,” the young midfielder added.

Asllani said of Martinez that “He’s an incredible captain, I have to thank him for everything he does.”

“He’s a true leader. He always raises the bar for us.”

Asllani called the win over Fiorentina “An important match in a difficult away stadium.”

“We have to think one match at a time,” he said.

Of coming up against La Viola, Asllani said that “We had to suffer. They raised their defensive line and made life difficult for us on some high balls.”

“But in the end we did well to suffer and take the three points.”
