The future of goalkeeper Emil Audero at Inter Milan is up in the air, with Atalanta’s Juan Musso a candidate to replace him next summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

At the moment, Audero is only at Inter on loan from Sampdoria.

The 27-year-old joined the Nerazzurri on a season-long loan deal last summer.

Inter do retain a purchase option worth €7 million on Audero. Therefore, there is every chance that the Nerazzurri would be ready to pay that fee to the Blucerchiati to sign Audero on a permanent basis.

But on the other hand, there is no guarantee that Inter would be ready to spend that money on Audero.

So far this season, the former Juventus keeper has not played much of a role.

Audero has yet to start in Serie A for the Nerazzurri. He has started against Benfica in the Champions League, and Bologna in the Coppa Italia.

Thus far, former Bayern Munich veteran Yann Sommer has proven very difficult for the Italian to dislodge in the Number One spot.

Emil Audero Future At Inter Up In The Air – Juan Musso A Candidate To Replace Him

Inter will therefore have a decision to make at the end of the season regarding Audero.

And if the Nerazzurri do decline to exercise the purchase option in the 27-year-old’s loan deal and send him back to the Marassi, then they will of course have to sign a new backup keeper.

And according to Tuttosport, Inter would have a clear target in mind for this role.

Argentine international Juan Musso has been a player on the Nerazzurri’s radar for some time.

Inter had considered the Argentine as a target whilst he was an Udinese player.

Musso joined Atalanta in the summer of 2021 from the Friulani.

But whilst the 29-year-old has generally been first-choice at the Gewiss Arena since joining, the emergence of Marco Carnesecchi has seen him risk losing his place.

Therefore, there would be a real chance that Atalanta would be willing to sell Musso. Possibly as early as next summer.

And Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio in particular considers the Argentine to be a long-term target.

Therefore, if Audero were to be out the door, then Musso would be one of the first names on Inter’s list of candidates to take his place in the squad.
