Former Rossoneri coach Fabio Capello feels that Inter Milan lead the way in Serie A, and that AC Milan are a stronger team than Juventus.

The former coach spoke to Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport in an interview published in today’s print edition, via FCInterNews.

At the top end of the table, just one point separates Inter and Juventus. Albeit with the Nerazzurri having a game in hand.

Meanwhile, Milan are a few points further back.

The Rossoneri are eight points behind Inter, and seven behind Juventus.

Then, the rest of the chasing pack are quite a few points further in the distance.

Capello: Inter “In A Class Of Their Own” But AC Milan Stronger Than Juventus

Earlier in the season, Milan had been top of the table.

It had looked as though the Rossoneri could end up being the team to beat for Inter and any other teams with ambitions of winning the Serie A title.

But a significant drop-off in form during the fall saw Milan slip out of title contention.

Of course, there is still the possibility that the Rossoneri could pick up the points they need to catch up with Juventus and Inter. Particularly given that they have found their form once again.

But at the moment, it is the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri who look like the two main title contenders.

And for his part, former coach Capello feels that this is disappointing given the relative strength of the squad that Milan coach Stefano Pioli has at his disposal.

Capello evaluated the top teams in Serie A, saying that “Inter are in a class of their own in terms of the quality of their squad.”

“However, for me, Milan has a superior team to Juve,” the former coach continued.

“In other words, they have the second strongest squad in the league,” he argued.

As far as why the Rossoneri have not managed to live up to the quality of their squad, Capello said that “They have a number of players who have taken some time to integrate and learn Italian football.”

“And then there have been a number of injuries,” he added.
