A report in the Italian press argues that Federico Dimarco is the man capable of triggering the most effective version of Inter Milan strikers Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

The left wingback will be among four key players who will return to Simone Inzaghi’s starting lineup for the big Scudetto showdown against Juventus on Sunday. The other three will be Hakan Calhangolu, Nicolo Barella and Francesco Acerbi.

But as Il Corriere dello Sport (via FcInterNews) notes, Dimarco’s return will be particularly significant.

The 26-year-old left his spot on the left flank for Carlos Augusto in Florence. Nevertheless, Inzaghi will resort to the services of the Italy international for the Derby d’Italia clash.

The Roman newspaper argues that Dimarco holds the key to unlocking Thuram and Lautaro.

With his daring runs on the flank, the former Parma and Hellas Verona man can cause chaos in the final third.

He has thus far scored three strikes (including a contender for the Goal of the Season against Frosinone) while also contributing with five assists across all competitions this term.

Can Federico Dimarco Trigger The Best Out Of Lautaro Martinez & Marcus Thuram In The Derby D’Italia

The wingback’s meteoric rise over the past few years has been one of the most inspirational stories for the Nerazzurri faithful.

Dimarco is a childhood die-hard Inter fan who used to attend the club’s matches at San Siro and offer his support from the Curva Nord alongside his uncle.

While he initially struggled to get his breakthrough at the club, he rejoined the squad in 2021 following recurring loan spells and gradually climbed his way in the ranks.

The Italy international has now established himself as one of the finest wingbacks on the European scene, and he’ll be looking to act as a protagonist once more in this weekend’s Derby d’Italia.
