Inter Milan are reportedly keeping tabs on Atalanta striker Luis Muriel with a view to a possible summer free transfer.

The Serie A leaders certainly won’t make a last-ditch attempt to sign the Colombian on deadline day. However, a summer transfer might be a plausible scenario, but only if the player remains in Bergamo until the end of the season

According to journalist Matteo Moretto via Calciomercato, Orlando City have entered the fray, making an official bid for Muriel.

The Major League Soccer is reportedly waiting for Atalanta’s response. The American transfer session will remain open for the next few days, giving Orlando additional time to finalize the negotiations.

However, the source notes that a deal remains unlikely at the moment, citing how the Americans failed to lure the experienced striker with their proposed wages.

Therefore, the door remains open for Inter directors Giuseppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio to strike a summer deal.

Atalanta Veteran Luis Muriel Remains A Possible Summer Transfer Target For Inter Milan

As the report notes, the Nerazzurri would have considered a January move for the former Udinese and Sevilla man had Alexis Sanchez left for the Saudi Pro League.

Nevertheless, Simone Inzaghi’s attack will remain intact until the end of the season.

So it remains to be seen if Inter would resort to Muriel’s services.

The Beneamata are already close to securing the services of Mehdi Taremi for the upcoming campaign. Just like Muriel, the Iranian is running on an expiring contract and will leave Porto at the end of the season.

For his part, the Colombian has been plying his trade with La Dea since 2019.

This season, he has fallen down Gian Piero Gasperini’s pecking order, but still contributed with six goals in 24 appearances (with only five as a starter).
