Italian journalist Marco Barzaghi claims there could be some truth behind rumors linking Inter Milan with a move for Adrien Rabiot.

The Frenchman should make his return from injury this Sunday in the Derby d’Italia between the Nerazzurri and arch-rivals Juventus.

The 28-year-old has been one of the main protagonists for the Bianconeri in recent years, but his future remains uncertain.

The World Cup finalist is currently running on an expiring contract, so this could well be his final appearance in the Derby d’Italia.

Nevertheless, some circulating reports suggested a sensational scenario that would see the French midfielder playing on the opposite side of the field in next season’s Derby d’Italia.

For his part, Barzaghi doesn’t utterly rule out the prospect.

While the Sport Mediaset journalist feels that Inter’s midfield department will be complete with the widely expected arrival of Piotr Zielinski, he believes that adding Rabiot to the fold could become a possibility.

“The rumors about Inter’s interest in Rabiot, who is out of contract at Juventus, are not completely fake,” claimed Barzaghi on his YouTube channel via TuttoMercatoWeb.

“There is definitely a little something out there, even if Inter have already completed their midfield.

“Rabiot earns a high salary, about 7 million net, and he’s looking for an agreement for next season. His mother/agent Veronique is very good at finding solutions.

“Inter’s midfield is complete with Zielinski. But keep an eye on this one.

“We’re talking about two clubs who are also great rivals on the market. We saw what happened with Djalò and Lukaku. The market always offers surprises.

“In this case, the negotiations will be difficult, but I wouldn’t call it impossible.”
