Simone Inzaghi and Max Allegri may have travelled different routes to this evening’s Derby d’Italia – but they’ve arrived at the same destination.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.

Inter coach Inzaghi and his Juventus counterpart Allegri come into this evening’s match with little to split their teams in the table.

The Nerazzurri are a point ahead of the Bianconeri in the table. And they have the bonus of a game in hand.

But the reality is that that is a slender advantage that can evaporate in virtually an instant.

Allegri and Juventus can all but make it disappear this evening.

Simone Inzaghi & Max Allegri Travel Different Routes To Same Derby D’Italia Destination

Inzaghi and Allegri have gone about their work very differently this season, in many respects.

On the pitch there are clear differences between Inter and Juventus, despite both nominally employing 3-5-2 shapes.

The Nerazzurri use the formation in a relatively proactive way. They aim to press high up the pitch and pile on the chances to dominate and win matches.

And Juventus under Allegri tend to be a much cagier proposition.

There is some variation and versatility to each coach’s approach.

But the general differences are plain to see.

Then, there is the matter of how Inzaghi and Allegri approach things off of the pitch.

Former Lazio coach Inzaghi has become a coach widely associated with a quiet, calm approach.

The 47-year-old tends to completely eschew rhetorical flourishes when he addresses the press.

And Inzaghi has been keen to avoid either making or responding to provocations throughout the title race against Juventus.

The Nerazzurri coach wants to do his work with his team, with as few distractions as possible.

Allegri, on the other hand, has never exactly been averse to mind games.

The 56-year-old showed that in recent weeks with his coy remarks about the ongoing title race between his team and Inter being like a game of “cops and robbers.”

So the differences between the two men and how they look to position their teams are there to see.

But at the same time, Inzaghi and Allegri come into this evening’s match as parallel figures.

The stakes don’t look all that different for either. And for both, there is a feeling that they are negotiating a fine balance between feeling the pressure and playing without fear.
