Lautaro Martinez feels that there’s no worries about his Inter Milan contract extension, as he’s happy at the Nerazzurri.
The 26-year-old spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, addressing the recent speculation about his future.
A recent interview of Martinez’s agent confirmed that there is still no agreement between Inter and their captain as far as a new deal.
Considering the Argentine’s importance to the Nerazzurri, hammering out a new contract has certainly been a priority.
Martinez’s contract runs out at the end of June 2026. So it’s not as though there is any rush in that sense.
But by all accounts, Inter are keen to tie the 26-year-old on a longer-term deal, well before his current one expires.
Martinez has certainly earned an improved deal with his form on the pitch, his goals, and the leadership he’s shown at Inter.
So the fact that no agreement has yet been reached despite reports suggesting that one could be done at some point last month could perhaps have raised some alarms.
But from the perspective of the player himself, there is little reason for that.
Lautaro Martinez: “Nothing To Worry About” In Inter Contract Talks
As far as the talks with Inter, Martinez confirmed what Inter CEO Beppe Marotta said – that things are on hold, but can start up again at the right moment.
“What Marotta said is correct,” the Inter captain said.
“We’re working on it,” he continued.
“it’s not easy. But we’re on the right path, and we’ll try to find an agreement.”
Martinez noted that “I just focus on the pitch, because we have so many matches.”
The Argentine continued that “I still have two years left on my contract.”
“I’m happy at Inter and in Milan, as are my family. There’s nothing to worry about, we just have to talk it through together.”
