Luciano Spalletti will be in attendance for this evening’s Serie A match between Roma and Inter Milan with several Italian players to observe.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Italy coach Spalletti is a player who has history with both Roma and Inter.

Prior to his title-winning heroics with Napoli last season, the Giallorossi were the club with whom Spalletti was best associated.

The veteran coach had two separate spells in charge of Roma.

And Spalletti built strong teams in both occasions. He guided the club from the Italian capital to Coppa Italia trophies in his first period at the helm.

And Spalletti has also coached Inter.

The 64-year-old had been in charge of the Nerazzurri between 2017 and 2019. He had in fact joined from Roma.

And while Spalletti may not have reached quite the heights that his successors Antonio Conte and Simone Inzaghi at the San Siro, he was a key figure in lifting the Nerazzurri out of the doldrum to become a Champions League team again.

So it is perhaps not surprising that Spalletti would carve out the time to watch this evening’s match at the Stadio Olimpico.

Moreover, the Italy coach will have a very relative assignment regarding his current job.

There will certainly be quite a few Azzurri players on the pitch.

The current Italy team has a spine of Inter players. The likes of Nicolo Barella, Alessandro Bastoni, and Federico Dimarco are all at the heart of Spalletti’s Italy.

And then veterans Matteo Darmian and Francesco Acerbi have still had plenty of chances to play.

Midfielder Davide Frattesi, on the other hand, will have no chance of getting out on the pitch as he misses this evening’s match due to injury.

Meanwhile, on the home side, Spalletti can get a close look at players like Gianluca Mancini, Bryan Cristante, Lorenzo Pellegrini, and Edoardo Bove.
