Striker Marcus Thuram has been named as Inter Milan’s man of the match in their 4-2 Serie A win against Roma.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, hail the 26-year-old’s decisive impact at the Stadio Olimpico.

Inter were in need of inspiration from somewhere at the start of the second half of yesterday’s match.

The first period had not been one of the better halves of football from the Nerazzurri this season by any means.

Strikers Thuram and Lautaro Martinez were not getting much change out of Giallorossi defenders Gianluca Mancini and Dean Huijsen.

On the run of play before the interval, Inter hardly looked like a team who would overturn Roma’s 2-1 halftime lead.

But the quality is always there in the Nerazzurri’s squad to turn things around in those situations. And in this instance, one player in particular made the difference.

Marcus Thuram Named MOTM For Inter Vs Roma

France international Thuram had already been the difference-maker once for Inter against Roma.

The former Borussia Monchengladbach striker had scored the late winner in a 1-0 victory in the reverse fixture.

And Thuram will now be a face who Roma will really be sick of seeing.

The 26-year-old scored the equalizer for Inter not long after the start of the second half.

With Inter stringing together the passes at speed, Thuram did something neither he nor Thuram had done throughout the first half – stole the march on a Roma defender.

The Nerazzurri striker’s anticipation and acceleration allowed him to latch onto a Matteo Darmian cross ahead of Mancini.

But Thuram wasn’t done there.

The Frenchman played an instrumental role in what proved to be Inter’s match-winner just a few minutes later.

Thuram may not have scored that goal. But the 26-year-old’s anticipation and presence were what put Giallorossi defender Angelino in an awkward position.

The Spaniard ended up turning the ball into his own net. He had little choice with Thuram lurking alongside him.
