Inter Milan have tightened their grip on the Serie A title race after Juventus fell to a surprise home defeat to relegation-battlers Udinese yesterday.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, highlight how now it’s up to the Nerazzurri to not lose their nerve.

Inter had already done the hard part.

The Nerazzurri came back from a goal down to beat Roma 4-2 at the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday.

That result was Inter’s seventh in 2024, five of those coming in Serie A. And it followed up last Sunday’s victory in the Derby d’Italia against Juventus.

The win over Roma took Inter to seven points clear of the Bianconeri at the top of the table – with the same number of matches.

Juventus had the chance to close that gap to four, or six, points yesterday. Albeit with Inter having a game in hand.

But Max Allegri’s men failed to do so – falling to their third league defeat of the season.

That means that, without lifting a finger, Inter’s advantage increased in a certain sense.

The Nerazzurri are still seven points clear at the top. But now with a game in hand on their chief rivals.

And Juventus have one fewer opportunity to claw back points in the title race.

Advantage Inter After Juventus Debacle Vs Udinese

If Juventus will have been desperately hoping for Inter to slip up in the immediate aftermath of the Derby d’Italia in a tough away match against Roma, it was actually the Bianconeri who did so.

Playing against a team who had been in the relegation places prior to kickoff, at their home stadium, Juventus suffered a shock 0-1 loss.

This felt like a moment that confirmed the momentum from the Derby d’Italia.

Inter’s victory against Roma had already done so in a certain sense.

And now the question is whether Inter will be able to hold their nerve.

Obviously, the Nerazzurri will not be getting complacent or taking anything for granted.

But on paper, it looks like the run-in will be a sequence of largely winnable matches for Inter. Particularly for a team who have already been the outstanding side in Serie A so far this campaign.

That fact will bring pressure all of its own for the Nerazzurri.

But from here on out, there is no hiding from it. This season’s Scudetto is Inter’s to lose.
