Striker Marko Arnautovic has always felt the support from his teammates at Inter Milan, even during difficult periods.

The Argentine spoke to TNT Sports, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s Champions League win over Atletico Madrid.

Arnautovic certainly enjoyed one of his most memorable moments of the season yesterday.

The Austrian was the scorer of Inter’s winning goal on the night against Atletico Madrid.

Arnautovic came on at halftime for the injured Marcus Thuram.

And whilst the 34-year-old missed a couple of chances to score, his holdup play and physicality were important to knitting together Inter’s attack.

And most importantly, Arnautovic never gave up.

It was gambling on a run to meet the rebound from a saved Lautaro Martinez shot that proved to be the decisive moment for the former West Ham United and Stoke City striker.

Arnautovic wrote the headlines with a goal to give Inter a crucial advantage going into the second leg.

But it wasn’t always this easy for Arnautovic. The striker had a lengthy spell on the sidelines with injury earlier this season.

Marko Arnautovic: Always Felt Supported By Everyone At Inter

After yesterday’s match, Arnautovic commented that “I had two chances to score.”

“Fortunately, with the third one I scored.”

“I’m very happy for the team,” the Austrian continued. “And for the fans who came out to the stadium.”

“I think it’s a victory that we absolutely deserved,” Arnautovic added.

“But now a very tough challenge awaits us in Madrid. We know how good they are.”

Of his goal giving him a sense of “liberation” Arnautovic said that “My teammates knew that it wasn’t an easy period for me.”

“Because when you’re our injured, it’s never easy.”

“I’m really grateful to the team, the staff, and the fans,” the 34-year-old said.

“Everyone here at Inter supports me. I’m really happy to be here.”
