Striker Marcus Thuram will definitely be fit for Inter Milan’s Champions League round of sixteen against Atletico Madrid.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The Gazzetta anticipate Thuram will be out for 10-15 days.

Inter have breathed something of a sigh of relief regarding Thuram’s fitness.

The injury to the French international had been the one major blemish on Tuesday’s Champions League win over Atletico.

Thuram had started the round of sixteen first leg clash. And he did manage to see out the entire first half.

However, the 26-year-old did not play in the second half.

Marko Arnautovic – scorer of the match’s only goal – replace Thuram after the Frenchman had picked up a thigh problem during the final minutes of the first half.

Marcus Thuram Definitely Fit For Inter Vs Atletico Second Leg

Yesterday, Inter confirmed that Thuram had suffered an elongation to the adductor muscle in his right thigh.

The 26-year-old will therefore have to recover from that injury.

But the timeline for Thuram’s recovery is set to be all-important.

One thing that is very clear is that the 26-year-old will not be available for Inter’s next couple of matches.

The Nerazzurri take on Lecce in Serie A on Sunday. Then, on Wednesday next week, Inter host Atalanta in the league match to make up for the mixed fixture during the Supercoppa Italiana.

There would be zero chance of seeing Thuram in either of those matches.

But the Gazzetta report that the injury to Thuram should keep him on the sideline for ten or fifteen days.

Therefore, the newspaper anticipate, it is possible that the Frenchman could be back for Inter’s Serie A match at home to Genoa next month.

And if not then, the Nerazzurri could have Thuram back for the following weekend’s match away to Bologna.

After that, there will be the second leg against Atletico.

And according to the Gazzetta, Thuram will certainly be fit and available for selection in that match.
