The father of Bologna midfielder Giovanni Fabbian has confirmed that Inter Milan have a buyback clause on the 21-year-old.
Fabbian’s father Alberto spoke to Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews. He also said that the young midfielder is happy with how things are going at Bologna.
Fabbian has been one of the outstanding young players in Serie A in recent weeks.
The Italian Under-21 international’s goal and assist against Hellas Verona at the start of the weekend took him to four goals and two assists for the season.
Fabbian did not necessarily start the campaign as a regular starter for Bologna.
But the young midfielder has really worked his way into the team.
Fabbian joined Bologna from Inter during last summer transfer window.
The 21-year-old left the Nerazzurri on a permanent basis rather than on loan. This followed a path of steady growth through the club’s youth academy system.
But the fact that Inter sold Fabbian permanently does not mean that they will not have the chance to regain control of the midfielder’s future.
On the contrary, as the player’s father has confirmed, Inter can buy Fabbian back.

Of Fabbian’s growth, the player’s father said that “Inter’s youth team is great. But Serie B is something else.”
“It’s the world of the adults.”
“Serie A is even tougher,” the player’s father Alberto continued.
“He feels great there,” he noted.
“At first he didn’t play much, but he is happy with his teammates,” Alberto noted.
“They’re young, motivated,” he went on. “And they have a great coach.”
The player’s father made clear that “Giovanni is very happy.”
“He says that Thiago Motta really likes teaching them football.”
And regarding Fabbian’s future, the midfielder’s father said that “He’ll definitely play for two seasons in Bologna.”
“And then Inter have a buyback option,” he added. “So we’ll see what they decide.”
