Inter Milan are keeping a close eye on Giovanni Fabbian as the midfielder enjoys a breakout season with Bologna.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, anticipate that the Nerazzurri could exercise a 12 million buyback clause on the midfielder in the summer of 2025.

This has been a season of growth for Fabbian.

The 21-year-old did not come into the season as a starter for Bologna right away.

But Fabbian has gotten more and more playing time as the season has progressed.

The Italian Under-21 international starter for Bologna in their Serie A win over Hellas Verona on Friday.

The young midfielder scored the Rossoblu’s opener in a 2-0 win. He also assisted the second goal by former Atalanta midfielder Remo Freuler.

This took Fabbian’s total for the season to four goals and two assists in Serie A.

Inter Could Bring Back Giovanni Fabbian In 2025

Fabbian joined Bologna from Inter last summer.

The young midfielder had come through the Nerazzurri’s youth ranks, shining for their Primavera team.

Fabbian had enjoyed a very positive season on loan with Reggina last season in Serie B.

That led to interest in the midfielder’s signature from a host of clubs in the top flight.

Udinese had looked on the verge of completing a deal to sign Fabbian. However, the deal was linked with a transfer of Friulani midfielder Lazar Samardzic going the other way.

Samardzic’s deal collapsed in dramatic fashion. So Fabbian’s fell through with it.

It was Bologna who swooped in to take advantage of the situation, agreeing a deal with Inter.

The Emilian club signed Fabbian on a permanent basis from Inter.

They did so for a fee of around 7 million.

And things have been going well both for Fabbian and for Bologna this season.

The Rossoblu have been making a surprise push for top four under Thiago Motta this campaign. And Fabbian is increasingly at the heart of it.

And Inter could be poised to take advantage of it.

The Nerazzurri have a buyback option on Fabbian. This becomes active at the end of June 2025.

The Nerazzurri have the right of first refusal on Fabbian.

Therefore, Inter have full control over the decision on whether or not they will bring Fabbian back. Bologna cannot accept any offers without the Nerazzurri first making a decision on their buyback option.
