Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez is still hungry to keep improving after Inter Milan’s 4-0 Serie A win over Lecce.

The Nerazzurri captain spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews, after the victory. He emphasized the need for the team not to rest on their laurels.

Inter have made it ten wins from ten in 2024 with their Serie A victory away to Lecce.

And the club’s captain Martinez also reached an important milestone.

The Argentine has now scored a hundred goals in the Italian top flight since his arrival in 2018. And he has also scored his 101st.

Martinez was one goal away from becoming Inter’s “Mr. 100.”

And the 26-year-old scored a brace to help power the Nerazzurri to a 4-0 victory that sees them go nine points clear of Juventus (with a game in hand) at the top of the table once again.

Lautaro Martinez Still Hungry After Inter Win Vs Lecce: “Have To Keep Raising The Level”

Asked if this is the strongest Inter side he’s played for, Martinez said that “It’s certainly an Inter with great consistency.”

“After reaching the Champions League final, we’ve improved in every aspect,” the captain continued.

Martinez added, “But we can’t stand still.”

“We have to raise the level every day, each training session, to always make the coach have a tough decision to make.”

Of the win over Lecce, Martinez said that “It means a lot to us.”

“We’re on a very consistent path, playing great football.”

“We’re all doing a great job,” he added. “But we have to keep going, because it’s not over.”

Asked what his favourite of his one hundred Serie A goals is, Martinez admitted that “Choosing is difficult.”

“I’ll say the hundredth,” he added.

“When I left home aged fifteen, I never could’ve imagined all this happening. I owe everything to my family.”

And as for whether he could break the record for goals in a single Serie A season, Martinez said that “I’ll try.”

“the important thing is that Inter has to win.”

“I’m on my way,” the Inter captain added.

“I’m happy because these goals help the team take home points,” he said.
