All of Marcus Thuram, Hakan Calhanoglu, and Francesco Acerbi will miss Inter Milan’s Serie A match against Atalanta.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi will likely aim to start his strongest possible lineup tomorrow.

The Nerazzurri coach had made a number of changes to the team for Sunday’s win over Lecce. But against Atalanta, it will be a more formidable challenge, at least on paper.

And Inzaghi gave a number of key starters a rest over the weekend. So they will be fresh and ready to come back into the team.

That will mean that Nicolo Barella should return in midfield.

And in defense, Alessandro Bastoni and Benjamin Pavard look set to take the places of Carlos Augusto and Yann Bisseck respectively.

Captain Lautaro Martinez will of course keep his place in attack. Marko Arnautovic could start alongside the captain.

And Denzel Dumfries could start on the right flank again.

Thuram, Calhanoglu & Acerbi Out For Atalanta Clash

But Inter coach Inzaghi will have to do without three key players from the spine of the starting eleven.

One is striker Thuram. The Frenchman is still recovering from a muscle injury that he sustained against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League last week.

Thuram could be back against Genoa next weekend.

But the 26-year-old certainly will play no part tomorrow.

Then, there will be no Calhanoglu in Inter’s midfield. Tests yesterday confirmed that the Turkish international has picked up a thigh strain.

That means that Kristjan Asllani will likely start in midfield tomorrow.

And in defense, Stefan de Vrij will start his fourth consecutive match in the centre of Inter’s back three.

That is because Francesco Acerbi will miss tomorrow’s match with a calf problem.

Inzaghi will still look to start a very strong team. But it will have a few very notable absentees.
