AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli admits that the Scudetto race is all but over with Inter Milan leaving everyone else in the dust.

The Nerazzurri displayed their supremacy once more on Wednesday night when they hosted Atalanta at San Siro.

The league leaders breezed past their fellow Lombardians by scoring four goals for the fourth Serie A match in a row.

Inter have now opened a 12-point gap with their closest chasers Juventus, while Milan sit third, 16 points adrift from the top.

Therefore, Pioli has conceded the title race, admitting that no other side will be able to catch the runaway leaders.

“I think Inter have guaranteed first place,” said the 58-year-old in his pre-match press conference ahead of his team’s encounter against Lazio (via FcInterNews).

“The Nerazzurri are having an incredible campaign. Despite a difficult calendar, they kept winning.

“After overcoming that path in such an empathic fashion, I think the title race is over.”

AC Milan Stefano Pioli Feels Inter Milan Have All But Secured The Scudetto Title

One of the journalists asked Pioli if Inter might clinch the Scudetto during the Derby della Madonnina. The latter was expectedly dismissive.

“You are phenomenal in wasting energy! April 21st is still too far away. Now we’re playing Lazio.”

The Milan coach was also asked if this Inter side is similar to last’s season edition of Napoli. However, Pioli feels it is more reminiscent of Antonio Conte’s Juventus which dominated the Italian landscape between 2011 and 2014.

“Inter are at the same level of last season’s Napoli. Both have produced incredible numbers. But I find them more similar to Conte’s Juventus.

“We’re talking about a team that only lost one match in the season and opened a great winning streak. So this is a side that is enjoying an extraordinary campaign.”
