Inter Milan are reportedly evaluating a summer move for Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio who rose through their ranks.

The Nerazzurri youth product has been plying his trade in Brianza since 2020. He initially joined on loan, but then made his switch permanent in 2022.

The 26-year-old has now established himself as one of the most impressive shot-stoppers in Serie A.

The Italian has thus far made 23 league appearances this term. He conceded 17 goals in the process while registering 13 clean sheets.

These are considered remarkable figures for a mid-table club.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Serie A leaders are exploring the possibility of bringing Di Gregorio back to Appiano Gentile.

Nevertheless, the source notes that it wouldn’t be an easy operation. After all, Monza are requesting 20 million euros for his services.

Yet, Inter could have a trick up their sleeve.

When the Nerazzurri sold the goalkeeper to their Lomardian neighbors, they retained a sell-on fee on a future sale.

This clause would transform into a discount if Inter were to buy the player themselves.

However, the report believes that this move is intertwined with Emil Audero’s future.

The 27-year-old joined Inter on loan from Sampdoria with the option to buy. The 27-year-old currently serves as Yann Sommer’s understudy.

Nonetheless, GdS believes that the Beneamata don’t intend to spend 6.5 million euros to keep the former Juventus goalkeeper.

On the other hand, Inter would be open to maintaining Audero’s services if Sampdoria agree to extend the loan for another season.

This could become a more plausible solution if the Ligurian club were to remain in Serie B for another campaign, which appears to be likely based on the current league standings.
