It’s official – Inter Milan have completed the signing of goalkeeper Emil Audero from Sampdoria.

The club confirmed the 26-year-old’s arrival in an official announcement on the club’s homepage that Audero has joined the Nerazzurri on loan with the option to buy.

This summer has seen some major upheaval in the goalkeeping positions at Inter. All three senior goalkeepers from last season – Andre Onana, Samir Handanovic, and Alex Cordaz – have departed.

Two keepers already arrived to fill the vacant spots – Yann Sommer from Bayern Munich and Raffaele Di Gennaro from Gubbio.

However, the Nerazzurri’s squad was still lacking some depth between the posts. That is why the club moved to sign former Italian youth international keeper Audero.

Inter Milan Sign Emil Audero From Sampdoria On Loan With Option

Sampdoria keeper Audero has been one of his team’s outstanding performers over the past few seasons.

However, the 26-year-old’s displays were not enough to keep the Blucerchiati from being relegated last season.

With the Ligurians in Serie B, a player of Audero’s quality never looked likely to stick around this summer. And not only Inter, but also Lazio and Fiorentina showed an interest in the keeper’s signature.

But it’s the Nerazzurri who have won the race to sign Audero. The club officially announce that Audero has joined on a one-year loan deal containing a purchase option next summer.

Reports suggest that Inter Milan have an option to sign Emil Audero for €7 million. Meanwhile, the player himself has signed a four-year contract.

Whilst the Nerazzurri do not officially announce what Audero’s wages will be, reports put the amount at around €1.2 million net per season.

Audero joins Inter after five seasons at Sampdoria. He made 163 appearances in Serie A for the Blucerchiati, and 169 in all competitions.

The Italian came through the youth ranks at Juventus, though he only ever made a single appearance for the Bianconeri’s first team.

Meanwhile, at international level, Audero has played Italy at every youth level up to Under-21, for whom he’s received ten caps.

However, he has never made an appearance for the Azzurri senior side.
