Inter Milan stars Marcus Thuram and Francesco Acerbi should make their return to the pitch this Monday against Genoa.

The Frenchman skipped his team’s last two fixtures against Lecce and Atalanta with an injury.

The 26-year-old hurt himself while attempting a shot in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 against Atletico Madrid.

For his part, Acerbi has been out of action since the Nerazzurri’s 4-2 win over AS Roma on February 10th.

But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, both players have been showing positive signs as of late.

While Simone Inzaghi’s main host enjoyed a day off yesterday, the injured players were at work at Appiano Gentile.

As the pink newspaper tells it, Thuram and Acerbi have both managed to increase their workload.

The report expects them to rejoin group training either today or tomorrow. These signs point towards an imminent return to action.

Therefore, the French striker and the Italian defender should be in the squad for Monday’s home fixture against Genoa.

On the other hand, Hakan Calhanoglu still requires some time off.

The Turkish star sustained an injury earlier this week, and the source expects him to skip the meeting with the Grifone.

Nevertheless, the 30-year-old could make a timely return next Saturday against Bologna. This will be the final fixture for Inter ahead of the decisive second leg against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16.

Davide Frattesi also appears to be in the same boat. The Italian sustained an adductor knock while scoring Inter’s fourth goal against Atalanta.

Luckily for the former Sassuolo man, he has avoided injury. However, Inzaghi’s staff could decide to leave him out of the matchday squad this week as a precautionary measure.
