Former Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti only had words of praise for Simone Inzaghi and his men amidst their exceptional campaign.

As we reported earlier today, the 78-year-old returned to the club’s training ground at Appiano Gentile for the first time in 10 years.

He had lunch with the manager and his technical staff as well as the players.

“It’s certainly a homecoming for me. It’s an emotional day. I thank you for the invitation,” said the former Nerazzurri while chatting with reporters according to Sky Sport Italia via FcInterNews.

“For us, Inter is something fundamental, a very strong passion for the whole family, not just for me.

“I’m really enjoying this Inter. Honestly, they’re very strong. They also play well and are fun to watch.

“It may be the best Inter ever, but it’s difficult to make comparisons even for the opponents.”

A journalist asked the former club owner if current Inter captain Lautaro Martinez would have fit in the treble-winning team.

“Of course. Lautaro is a great player. We already had Diego Milito, so he could have been a supporting striker perhaps.

“Which player do I enjoy aside from Martinez? Well, you can’t exclude Lautaro. But they all seem suited to their roles. Overall, this mechanism is working fine.”

Ex Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti Praises Simone Inzaghi & His Players

Moratti also admitted that he didn’t expect Simone Inzaghi to reach such heights with the Nerazzurri. He also praises club president Steven Zhang.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect Inzaghi to be this good. He is doing great and is evolving more and more.

“It’s great to have him at Inter because he takes care of the team and makes them play well.

“No, I haven’t heard from Zhang lately. However, we had spoken in the past. He is a lad full of enthusiasm and hope, I am happy that he has been rewarded.”

Finally, the former owner labeled Inter as the absolute favorites to clinch the Scudetto title.

“I’ve always said it, Inter are the super favorites in the league because they play well. Also because they are stronger and have been consistent. There is no comparison.

“As for the Champions League, however, I am more superstitious because It’s more difficult.”
