Inter Milan are targeting Monza goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 26-year-old is one of the Nerazzurri’s top targets in goal.

Inter are not exactly imminently looking to rush out and sign a new goalkeeper.

35-year-old former Bayern Munich veteran Yann Sommer has been more than adequate in the role this season.

And even in his mid-thirties, Sommer should be able to hold down the role for another season or two at least.

But the Swiss international cannot remain the starter forever. Inter are mindful of that, and considering their options as far as replacements go.

And according to the Gazzetta, one of the players at the top of the Nerazzurri’s list is actually a graduate of their own youth academy.

Inter Targeting Monza Keeper Michele Di Gregorio

According to the Gazzetta, Di Gregorio is a player right up there on Inter’s shortlist of possible candidates for their future first-choice goalkeeper.

Di Gregorio is a graduate of the Nerazzurri’s youth academy system. He made numerous appearances for their Primavera team.

But Di Gregorio left Inter to join Monza on a permanent basis in the summer of 2022. That followed a couple seasons on loan with the Brianzoli.

Di Gregorio has made the step up to Serie A well after helping Monza to promotion.

In his two seasons in the Italian top flight, the Italian has been one of the division’s better keepers.

And according to the Gazzetta, this has marked Di Gregorio out as a target for Inter.

The player’s enthusiasm on such a move would hardly be in doubt. He already has connections to Inter, and has admitted to being a fan of the club.

And Di Gregorio is also a player who has experience in Serie A.

Moreover, at 26 years of age, the Monza keeper would likely have many years left at the highest level.
