Inter Milan and AC Milan will meet with Milan Mayor Beppe Sala this week to discuss the San Siro situation.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Mayor has set the meeting along with construction firm WeBuild for the coming days.

At the moment, Sala is pushing to try and keep Inter and Milan at the San Siro.

That has not been the intention of the clubs. The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri have been pursuing alternative plans in the greater Milan metropolitan area after it became clear that they cannot demolish the San Siro.

But Sala hopes that a plan to renovate the San Siro can entice the clubs to stay.

Inter and Milan have been clear that they don’t feel it’s possible for the existing stadium to meet their needs.

But Sala hopes that renovations could bring the San Siro up to the club’s expectations.

Inter & AC Milan To Meet With Milan Mayor To Discuss San Siro This Week

Sala has been working with construction firm WeBuild on plans to renovate the San Siro.

This would, in theory, allow the stadium to generate revenues on par with the stadium that other top European clubs play in. That is ultimately Inter and Milan’s priority.

And Sala also believes that WeBuild’s plans would allow the clubs to keep playing in the stadium during renovations. That would be another key aspect.

The Mayor has set a meeting for this week. This would see him speak with representatives of Inter and Milan as well as WeBuild.

Sala has indicated that Inter President Steven Zhang has expressed some openness to the idea.

Meanwhile, for the Rossoneri, it could be tougher. They have already spent 40 million purchasing land in the commune of San Donato on which to build a prospective new stadium.
