Inter Milan are pushing to equal a winning striker in Serie A from when they won the title under Antonio Conte.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter have won their last eight matches in Serie A.

The last time that the Nerazzurri dropped points in a league fixture came away to Genoa at the end of December. Since the start of 2024 they have won all their matches in all competitions.

Inter face the Grifone again this evening. And they will have the chance to take three points on their home ground rather than away in Liguria.

It will certainly not be easy to do so.

Under Alberto Gilardino, Genoa have been a tactically astute, physically intense team who can make life difficult for any of Serie A’s biggest names.

But Inter’s imperious form over the past couple months would suggest they’re more than capable of getting the result they want.

Inter Milan Have Antonio Conte Winning Streak In Sight

A win against Genoa would take Inter’s run in Serie A to nine wins in a row.

That would see the Nerazzurri pull to within two of their best winning streak in the league in recent memory.

Between January and April of the 2020-21 campaign. Inter won eleven matches in a row in the league.

That campaign had been the one where former Juventus and Chelsea coach Conte brought the Serie A title back to Inter.

The team’s form in the first half of the season had been far from perfect. But that run of eleven straight wins was what saw the Nerazzurri truly pull away from their rivals.

This time around, Inter have already almost certainly done enough to win the title.

A victory against Genoa this evening would see the Nerazzurri go an eye-watering fifteen points clear at the top.

And as they had done under Conte, Inter have relied on a big run of wins to go clear.
