Alexis Sanchez enjoyed a real star turn in attack for Inter Milan in yesterday evening’s Serie A win over Genoa.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, note the big evening for the Chilean.

It would be fair to say that Sanchez has not been Inter’s star man for much of this season.

The 35-year-old former Arsenal and Manchester United forward has had his moments in the sun.

Sanchez scored the Nerazzurri’s opener in a Champions League win over Red Bull Salzburg, for example.

And Sanchez has proved his worth in terms of giving the team an experienced option off the bench at times.

But the Chilean has certainly not hit the heights of strikers Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

Alexis Sanchez Enjoys Star Turn Vs Genoa

In recent matches, however, Sanchez has had a few more opportunities, however.

The veteran forward has started against Lecce and Genoa. He also came off the bench against Atalanta for an appearance that was more than a mere cameo.

And Sanchez was invaluable in the matches against Lecce and Atalanta. He capped off tidy displays with an assist in each of the two 4-0 wins.

But against Genoa, Sanchez took yet another step into the spotlight.

In the 2-1 victory, it was the Chilean who was Inter’s talisman in attack.

Nerazzurri captain Lautaro Martinez, who has scored 26 goals in all competitions this season, failed to get on the scoresheet. Moreover, he wasn’t as influential as he usually is, apart from a few neat touches.

But that off-night from Martinez was no problem for Inter.

Instead, it was Sanchez who powered the Nerazzurri in attack.

The 35-year-old rolled back the years with a sparkling display, with his excellent assist for Kristjan Asllani a highlight.

Sanchez may not be the player who will be Inter’s talisman from week to week at this stage in his career. But he is still capable of having his say now and then.
