Inter Milan midfielder Kristjan Asllani considers his teammate Alexis Sanchez to be a player of the highest quality.

The 21-year-old spoke to InterTV after the Nerazzurri’s 2-1 Serie A win over Genoa, via FCInterNews.

Two Inter players got on the scoresheet for the first time this season in Serie A against Genoa this evening.

One was Albanian international midfielder Asllani.

The former Empoli midfielder’s goal was in fact the first that he has scored since joining Inter in the summer of 2022.

Meanwhile, former Arsenal and Barcelona veteran Sanchez had scored plenty of Serie A goals for the Nerazzurri before. But those were all in his first stint at the club.

Sanchez had rejoined Inter during the summer before this season.

And the Chilean had not yet scored in Serie A this campaign prior to this evening.

But Sanchez was the player who stepped up to take a penalty in the first half. And he dispatched his effort perfectly.

Inter Midfielder Kristjan Asllani Full Of Praise For Alexis Sanchez

Of Sanchez, Asllani said that “He’s a top-class player.”

“We train with him every day,” the 21-year-old went on. “He’s vital for us, both on the pitch and in the dressing room.”

Asllani continued that “We have to congratulate Genoa on how they played. They caused us a lot of problems.”

“it was a very hard-fought match,” he added.

“Therefore, the win means even more.”

Of his goal, Asllani said that “Fortunately, it finally came.”

“But the win was more important than the goal. We won a hard-fought match and managed to extend our lead over second place.”

Asllani noted that “In the second half we conceded a goal and then maybe dropped off a bit.”

“We weren’t able to make the kinds of counterattacks we usually do.”

“They brought on two strikers,” the 21-year-old noted. “But we did well. We suffered as a team.”
