Inter Milan are becoming more and more likely to offer a contract extension to forward Alexis Sanchez after a string of good performances.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Sanchez made the surprise return to Inter on a free transfer last summer.

This came just twelve months after the Chilean had left the Nerazzurri. He had joined Marseille in the summer of 2022 after agreeing a termination of his Inter contract by mutual consent.

But after one season in Ligue 1, Sanchez departed from Marseille when his contract with that club expired.

And in the end, Inter decided to bring the former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Barcelona back since he was available on a free transfer.

For some time, it has seemed very likely that Sanchez would only be back at Inter for one season.

The 35-year-old had signed a one-year deal when he re-joined last summer.

And nothing about Sanchez’s form over the first half of the campaign suggested that Inter would be in any hurry to keep hold of the Chilean international.

But in recent weeks that has changed a bit.

Inter Milan More & More Likely To Offer Alexis Sanchez A Contract Extension

In Inter’s last three Serie A matches, Sanchez has started twice and come off the bench once.

The 35-year-old has assisted goals in all three. And against Genoa yesterday, he notched his first Serie A goal of the season from the penalty spot.

There is a sense that Sanchez is really starting to prove his worth to this team.

The Chilean knows full well that he is not a first-choice starter. But he also has the quality to impact matches from the bench, or give the team a different option in attack.

Therefore, Inter are now seriously considering offering Sanchez a new deal.

Mehdi Taremi may be set to arrive next summer. But that does not mean there won’t be a place for Sanchez.

The former Arsenal and Udinese forward would likely have to accept a slight pay cut from the 2.8 million net per season that he currently earns.
