Liverpool are eyeing up Inter Milan coach as a potential replacement for Juergen Klopp on the bench next season.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri are feeling the pressure to sort out a contract extension for Inzaghi.

Inzaghi’s future has become a topic of some speculation.

The 47-year-old’s work in turning Inter into a dominant force within Serie A this season has not gone unnoticed by Europe’s top clubs.

Among the teams to take an interest in Inzaghi have been Manchester United and Chelsea.

And another big Premier League club can be added to the list, according the Gazzetta. Current league leaders Liverpool.

Liverpool Eyeing Up Inter Coach Simone Inzaghi As Klopp Replacement

The Reds will have a big task on their hands at the end of the season.

Klopp has announced that he will step down at the end of the campaign.

The German’s departure will mean that Liverpool are in the hunt for a new coach for the first time in nearly a decade. Klopp took over in the post midway through the 2015-16 season.

Naturally, replacing a coach who has had the influence that Klopp has will be no easy task for Liverpool.

But Inzaghi is on the Merseyside giants’ radar as a coach who has the qualities necessary.

The Inter coach’s work has not just been clear to see domestically. He has also had Inter shining on the European stage, where they reached the Champions League final last season.

Liverpool got a clear look at Inzaghi’s Inter two years ago, during the coach’s first season in charge at the Nerazzurri.

The Reds eliminated Inter from the Champions League at the round of sixteen stage.

But that came after a tie in which the Nerazzurri pushed the English side.

Inzaghi’s contract with Inter runs out at the end of June 2025.

And with Liverpool now entering the picture, the Nerazzurri will be more aware than ever of the need to extend their coach’s deal.
