Marcus Thuram and Francesco Acerbi will be back in the Inter Milan starting eleven to face Bologna this weekend.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter got two big boosts in terms of player fitness in Monday’s Serie A match against Genoa.

Both of Thuram and Acerbi made their returns from injury in that match.

In the case of Thuram, the Frenchman had been out for a couple of matches. He missed Serie A matches against Lecce and Atalanta after picking up a thigh problem against Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, Acerbi had been on the sidelines for a month.

The 35-year-old had suffered a calf injury during Inter’s Serie A win away to Roma last month.

But both were able to get back on the pitch against Genoa, coming on as second half substitutes.

Thuram & Acerbi To Start For Inter Vs Bologna In Serie A Clash

Thuram and Acerbi got more than just token minutes in the second half of Monday’s match.

Both of the duo came on midway through the second half.

And there did not appear to be any fitness issues for either.

Thuram put in an eye-catching display in attack. Meanwhile, Acerbi added some physicality and experience to the Inter backline as they held off a late Genoa onslaught.

Both of the pair will do one better on Saturday, the Gazzetta reports. They will regain their places in the Nerazzurri starting lineup.

The following match will be a hugely significant one for Inter. The Nerazzurri travel to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Champions League round of sixteen tie.

And both Thuram and Acerbi should be fully back in the swing of things for that match. This could be a decisive boost for Simone Inzaghi’s team.
