Inter Milan midfielders Hakan Calhanoglu and Davide Frattesi will return to action this weekend against Bologna, and perhaps even from the start.

As La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FcInterNews) explains, the treatment room at Appiano Gentile is almost empty.

Marcus Thuram and Francesco Acerbi have already made their return during the second half against Genoa on Monday night.

The source now expects Frattesi and Calhanoglu to follow suit. This would leave Juan Cuadrado and Stefano Sensi as the only players who remain unavailable.

Moreover, the pink newspaper suggests that the two midfielders could be pushing for a starting role this Saturday against Bologna.

While some had suspected that Frattesi had picked up an injury during the warm-up on Monday, it turned out to be a false alarm.

The Italian is in good physical shape and good enter Simone Inzaghi’s rotation this weekend. The 24-year-old might get the nod against the Rossoblu, thus giving either Nicolo Barella or Henrikh Mkhitaryan some rest.

For his part, Calhanoglu has overcome an adductor problem that has kept him out since February 24th.

The report claims that Inzaghi could decide to introduce the Turkiye international from the get-go.

In this case, the 30-year-old would likely get around 60 minutes of play before leaving his place for Kristjan Asllani.

This would prove as a useful test ahead of next Tuesday’s decisive second-leg clash against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16.

Inter Milan Midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu & Davide Frattesi Could Start Vs Bologna

Elsewhere on the pitch, GdS tips Marko Arnautovic to lead the line against his former employers this weekend.

The Austrian could start alongside Marcus Thuram, with club captain Lautaro Martinez getting rested.

On the wings, Denzel Dumfries and Carlos Augusto could replace Matteo Darmian and Federico Dimarco.
