Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone fears Antoine Griezmann could miss the decisive clash against Inter Milan due to injury.

The 32-year-old is enjoying a career revival in the Spanish capital, cementing himself as the technical leader of the group.

This season, the Frenchman has thus far contributed with 18 goals and seven assists across all competitions.

But sadly for the Spanish club, Griezmann sustained an ankle knock during the first-leg encounter against Inter at San Siro in the Champions League Round 16.

He left his place on the pitch to Angel Correa in the 78th minute. That was just before Marko Arnautovic scored the winner for the Nerazzurri.

Inter thus took a slim lead ahead of Tuesday’s second leg.

But while Simeone is hoping to count on Griezmann to turn the tide in his favor, the latter’s availability remains uncertain.

On Friday, the Argentine coach confirmed that his star player will skip Atletico’s league fixture against Cadiz tomorrow.

“Griezmann won’t be available for tomorrow’s match,” said Simeone in his pre-match press conference via FcInterNews.

“We don’t know if he will be back against Inter or for the next one against Barcelona.”

It would be a major blow for the Colchoneros if they were to Contend the decisive clash against the Serie A leaders without their inspirational star.

On the contrary, Simone Inzaghi has been receiving boosts recently, with some key players returning from injury.

Marcus Thuram and Francesco Acerbi returned to action during the second half during Monday’s win over Genoa.

Moreover, Hakan Calhanoglu should announce his return tomorrow against Bologna, either as a starter or a substitute.
