Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi will reportedly give Hakan Calhanoglu the nod in tomorrow’s Serie A clash against Bologna.

The Turkiye international missed the last three fixtures against Lecce, Atalanta and Genoa due to an adductor problem.

Nevertheless, the 30-year-old has now recovered and is looking to hit the ground running as soon as possible.

The Regista rejoined his teammates in group training this week and could be set to start at the Renato Dall’Ara.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Inzaghi is willing to make an exception for Calhanoglu.

The manager usually reintroduces his players gradually upon their return from injury. Marcus Thuram and Francesco Acerbi make for a good case in point. The duo made their comebacks against Genoa as second-half substitutes on Monday.

Nevertheless, Inzaghi could adopt a different approach with the Turkish star. This is mainly due to his significance to the team as well as the timing.

Inter Milan Coach Inzaghi Could Give Hakan Calhanoglu A Starting Role Vs Bologna

The Nerazzurri boss would like to fave the deep-lying playmaker in his optimal condition for Tuesday’s major Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid.

Therefore, Calhanoglu needs to put some valuable playing time in his legs.

The source believes that the former AC Milan star could play for 60 minutes before handing the reins to Kristjan Asllani.

The latter has been serving admirably in the absence of his older teammate. The young Albanian now holds the trust of Inzaghi, but Calhanoglu remains the preferred option after establishing himself as arguably one of the best in Europe in his playing role.

Hence, both players will most likely get playing time on Saturday against Thiago Motta’s men. But we shall see who will be in the starting lineup and who will come from the bench in the second half.
