Italian journalist Luigi Garlando insists Inter Milan can compete among the best in the Champions League this season.
The Nerazzurri reached the final of the competition last term before falling just short at the hands of Manchester City.
This term, Simone Inzaghi’s men are hoping to replicate this achievement. They currently have a slight advantage over Atletico Madrid following the first leg of the Round of 16.
According to Garlando, Man City remain the favorites to defend their European throne, but Inter have become a genuine threat.
“City are rightfully the favorites to lift the trophy. But Inter, who played on equal terms in the final in Istanbul, know that they can do it again,” said the journalist on La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.
“Even Guardiola knows it. Moreover, the Nerazzurri have grown in conviction since last year’s final.
“They are also stronger with Thuram, Calhanoglu and Lautaro becoming even more decisive.

Garlando feels Inter can go far in the competition, but they still have to overcome a stern challenge in Atletico Madrid.

Inter won the first leg at San Siro thanks to a late strike from Marko Arnautovic. The decisive clash will take place in the Spanish capital on March 13th.
