Bologna coach Thiago Motta feels that a team must be close to perfect in all phases of play to beat this Inter Milan side.

The Rossoblu boss spoke to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInterNews, after his team’s defeat at the hands of the Nerazzurri.

Bologna certainly gave a good account of themselves against Inter yesterday.

The Rossoblu were the team with the majority of the ball. They played it around at a high tempo and probed for openings.

And Bologna also largely defended well against the Nerazzurri.

Bologna were able to largely contained Inter’s dangerous counterattacks, denying them space and avoiding cheap giveaways that would allow Simone Inzaghi’s team the opportunity to move forward.

But it didn’t prove to be enough.

Inter did find the decisive goal, courtesy of defender Yann Bisseck. The German’s goal, from a cross by fellow defender Alessandro Bastoni, was a reminder of how many attacking solutions Inter have.

And at the other hand, the Nerazzurri bent but didn’t break.

Particularly in their own penalty area, Inter’s defending was exactly what it needed to be. Bologna never really got a telling chance to score.

Bologna Coach Thiago Motta Full Of Praise For Inter

Commenting after yesterday’s match, Motta said that “It was a good match.”

“Both teams played very well,” he went on.

The Rossoblu coach said that “To compete with this Inter, you have to play well in every phase of play.”

“You can’t lack concentration in the defensive phase against them,” Motta added.

Bologna remained in fourth place in the table despite their defeat. They will definitely still be in the Champions League spots at the end of the weekend.

However, the margin in fourth has been reduced for Motta’s team.

Meanwhile, Inter extended their lead at the top of the Serie A table to eighteen points for the time being.
