The agent of striker Lautaro Martinez will be in Madrid tomorrow for a new round of contract talks with Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper note that the meeting could focus on sorting out add-ons in a new deal for the Nerazzurri captain.
At the moment, Martinez has not yet put pen to paper on a contract extension with Inter.
The most recent extension that the Argentine signed was in the fall of 2021. That is the deal he is currently on, until the end of June 2026.
It has not necessarily been for any lack of trying on Inter’s part.
The Nerazzurri have been in talks with Martinez and his representatives for a number of months now.
Reportedly, Inter had hoped to have everything sorted out by January. But this did not prove to be the case.
The problem – as Martinez’s agent has heavily hinted at – is that Inter’s offer is not yet high enough.
Agent Of Lautaro Martinez To Meet With Inter Milan For Contract Talks Tomorrow
The Gazzetta note that around €2 million separate Inter and Martinez.
But, the newspaper further note, this is a gap that could be bridged with add-ons in a prospective deal, rather than a higher base amount of an offer.
Inter are ready to offer Martinez a contract worth around €8 million net per season, before add-ons.
But on top of that, the deal could reach beyond €10 million with the inclusion of all add-ons. This could well make Martinez the highest-paid player in Serie A.
Therefore, the add-ons look to be the crucial matter for Inter and Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano to work out.
And they will have a chance to do so tomorrow. The Gazzetta report that Camano will be in Madrid tomorrow – where Inter will be for their Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.
So there will be a new meeting between Inter and Camano.
The Nerazzurri are not exactly in a hurry. But they want to iron out a new deal for Martinez sooner or later, as there is always interest from other big European clubs in their captain’s signature.
