Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto could be back against Napoli or Empoli, whilst striker Marko Arnautovic is targeting a return against Udinese.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter lost a couple of players to injury during Saturday’s Serie A match away to Bologna.

Medical tests yesterday confirmed the injuries to Augusto and Arnautovic. The former had suffered an elongation in the soleus muscle of his right calf, whilst it’s a left hamstring strain for the latter.

The big question then concerns when the pair will be able to be back.

Inter have a packed schedule throughout the run-in, particularly if they progress to the Champions League quarterfinals.

And so the team will hardly want to miss any members of their squad for any serious length of time.

According to the Gazzetta, there is a clear sense of when Augusto and Arnautovic will be able to return.

Carlos Augusto Could Be Back Vs Napoli Or Empoli – Marko Arnautovic Targeting Udinese Clash

What is absolutely clear is that both Augusto and Arnautovic will not be fit for tomorrow’s Champions League showdown against Atletico Madrid.

There is simply not enough time for either to recover..

But according to the Gazzetta, Augusto should be back on the pitch sooner than Arnautovic.

The newspaper report that the Brazilian could conceivably be back for Inter’s next match. That is a league match against Napoli next Sunday.

But that is also a fairly optimistic prospect. Inter have no intention of taking any risks with Augusto’s fitness.

Therefore, the first match back from the international break – away to Empoli – would be a more realistic prediction.

As far as Arnautovic, the Gazzetta anticipate that the Austrian will be on the sidelines for almost a month.

Therefore, Arnautovic likely won’t be fit for the match against Empoli. That match will be on the first of April.

But the former West Ham United and Stoke City striker could return for the following match, against Udinese.
