Stefan de Vrij could get the nod in defense for Inter Milan against Atletico Madrid in tomorrow’s Champions League match.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper report that the centre of defense is one of two selection doubts for Simone Inzaghi.

Inter coach Inzaghi largely already has his mind made up on the lineup for tomorrow.

But there are still a couple of question marks, according to the Corriere.

One is in the centre of defense.

On the two sides of the back three, there is no doubt about who will start. Benjamin Pavard will start on the right despite Yann Bisseck’s outstanding performance over the weekend.

And on the left it will be Alessandro Bastoni keeping his place.

But there is some doubt in the central position, according to the Corriere.

Stefan De Vrij Could Start For Inter Vs Atletico

According to the Corriere, Inzaghi hasn’t fully settled on whether to start Stefan de Vrij or Francesco Acerbi tomorrow.

It has been the latter who has been first-choice for much of the past two seasons.

And Acerbi is fully fit. He made his first start against Bologna over the weekend, having returned from injury as a substitute against Genoa already.

But de Vrij had filled in for Acerbi very well during the run of matches where he was out injured.

This included an outstanding performance in the centre of the back three in the first leg of the Champions League round of sixteen tie against Atletico.

Therefore, the Corriere report, Inzaghi could once again go with de Vrij tomorrow.

However, Acerbi remains the slight favourite, the newspaper report.

As far as Inzaghi’s other doubt, the Corriere report that the coach is still making a decision at right-wingback.

Either of Denzel Dumfries or Matteo Darmian could start on the flank, the newspaper predict.
