Inter Milan are inching towards an agreement with captain Lautaro Martinez after a new meeting with the striker’s agent.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio, who reports on his homepage that the Nerazzurri could increase their offer to Martinez to 9 million net per season in wages.

Today in Milan, Inter’s directors held a meeting with Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano in Madrid.

The Nerazzurri are in the Spanish capital for a Champions League round of sixteen second leg against Atletico.

And Camano is also in the city. So the parties took the opportunity to hold a meeting to discuss Martinez’s prospective contract extension.

According to Di Marzio, there was no agreement reached during the negotiations.

Rather, the Sky transfer expert reports, the parties will meet once again in around a month.

But Inter and Martinez’s agent took stock of the situation.

Inter Inch Towards Agreement On Lautaro Martinez Contract Extension

At the moment, the reason that Martinez has not already signed a new contract with Inter is that there is no agreement between the Argentine and his club on wages.

Di Marzio notes that Inter’s offer has so far gone around as high as 8 million net per season plus add-ons.

Meanwhile, he reports, Martinez and Camano are demanding 10 million net per season.

But according to Di Marzio, Inter could raise their offer to around 9 million net per season.

The Nerazzurri directors will ask President Steven Zhang for authorization to go that high in terms of their offer. They will hope that this will be enough to bridge the gap.

Meanwhile, Di Marzio reports, it would not be out of the question for Inter’s offer to climb as high as €10 million net per season.

The structure of the deal could also be key. Add-ons are likely to play a significant role.
