Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto appears set to miss this weekend’s big showdown against Napoli due to an injury.

The 25-year-old suffered a calf problem during last week’s Serie A clash against Bologna.

Therefore, the Brazilian was unavailable for the second-leg encounter against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Round of 16. The tie culminated with Inter’s elimination following dramatic shootouts.

According to FcInterNews, Augusto is highly likely to skip this Sunday’s battle against Napoli.

Simone Inzaghi’s men will host the Italian champions at San Siro in the biggest tilt of the Serie A weekend.

However, the manager will very likely have to do without the former Monza man.

As the source explains, Augusto was among a group of four players who worked separately during Friday’s training session.

The others are Marko Arnautovic, Juan Cuadrado and Stefano Sensi.

Inter Milan Coach Simone Inzaghi Unlikely To Call Up Carlos Augusto For Napoli Clash

The team will put the final touches on their match preparations in Saturday afternoon’s training session.

But as the source tells it, the Brazil international is unlikely to recover in time to earn a call-up for the weekend clash.

Therefore Federico Dimarco will likely maintain his starting berth on the left wing in Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 formation. Moreover, Alessandro Bastoni would thus occupy the left spot in the defensive trio.

As for Augusto, he’ll probably have to wait until after the international break to make his return to the pitch.

The Nerazzurri will resume their campaign by hosting Empoli at San Siro on the 1st of April.
