Wingback Carlos Augusto will still be out with injury for Inter Milan’s Serie A match against Napoli tomorrow evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper reports that there is basically no chance of the Brazilian returning.

Augusto picked up a calf injury during last Saturday’s Serie A match away to Bologna.

The former Monza wingback had started that match on the left flank for Inter.

However, Augusto was only able to see out the first half at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. He informed the coaching staff that he was feeling discomfort in his calf and so was removed at halftime.

Subsequent tests revealed that Augusto had suffered an elongation of the soleus muscle in his right leg.

Therefore, Augusto has been on the sidelines for the last week.

The injury is not overly serious. However, it was enough to cause the 25-year-old to miss out on Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.

Augusto’s fresh legs were missed by Inter during what proved to be a gruelling, two-hour match in which the team exited the Champions League on penalties.

Carlos Augusto To Miss Inter Vs Napoli Clash

Augusto should not be all that far away from returning.

But the Brazilian is not going to rush straight back to action.

Inter’s next match is tomorrow. The Nerazzurri host last season’s Serie A champions Napoli at the San Siro.

And it would simply be too soon for Augusto come back and play a role.

Therefore, the 25-year-old should instead be able to return in the following match for Inter.

That is against Empoli. But it is at the start of April, as tomorrow’s match will be the Nerazzurri’s last before the international break.

There would certainly be little doubt of Augusto being ready then.
