The Italian FA prosecutor investigating an alleged racist incident between Inter Milan and Napoli will speak to Francesco Acerbi and Juan Jesus tomorrow.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it.

The controversy regarding alleged racist remarks by Inter defender Acerbi towards Napoli counterpart Jesus have certainly overshadowed anything else on the pitch from Sunday’s match.

During the match, Jesus told referee Federico La Penna that Acerbi had used a racist slur against him.

Yesterday, Acerbi spoke to deny that he had used any racist slurs or showed any discriminatory intent.

But then, Napoli defender Jesus responded on Instagram. The 32-year-old claimed that Acerbi has in fact apologized on the pitch, but is now changing his story.

Naturally, the footballing authorities will have to find out the truth of the matter.

If Acerbi is found to have racially abused Jesus, he could face a significant suspension.

Italian FA Prosecutor To Speak To Francesco Acerbi & Juan Jesus Tomorrow

Sports judge of the Lega Serie A, Gerardo Mastrandrea, had already begun investigating the incident in Sunday’s match.

The judge had looked over the match report by referee La Penna.

But Mastrandrea found that he was unable to come to any definitive conclusions about the incident.

Therefore, the judge found it necessary to request further assistance. He formally requested the intervention of the prosecutors’ office of the Italian FA.

It is prosecutor Giuseppe Chine who has headed up the investigation into Sunday’s incident.

And Chine is not wasting any time.

The Gazzetta report that the prosecutor will speak to both Acerbi and Jesus tomorrow.

Chine will get both footballers’ version of events as he aims to reconstruct the incident on Sunday.

Moreover, the Gazzetta note, Chine will also be reviewing video footage that is available. And he could also speak with others who were on the pitch during the incident.
