Inter Milan linked Torino defender Alessandro Buongiorno says that playing in the Champions League would be one of his dreams.

The 24-year-old spoke to Cronachie di Spogliatoio, via FCInterNews. He opened up on his ambitions for the future as the links to Italy’s biggest clubs start to emerge.

Buongiorno has been a real breakout player for Torino in the last couple of seasons.

The Italian international has been making appearances in Serie A for the Granata since the 2020-21 season.

But it has been the past two where Buongiorno has really shone.

The 24-year-old has become a regular in the Torino starting eleven. This season, he has just about been the first name on the teamsheet apart from when he has been out with injuries.

Buongiorno has proven to be one of the most adept young defenders in Serie A.

The Torino man’s combination of size, strength, speed, agility, anticipation, and marking ability have made him a formidable opponent for many of the league’s top striker.

Inter Target Alessandro Buongiorno: Champions League A “Dream”

Given Buongiorno’s quality and steadily improving form, it is little surprise to see the Torino defender earn call-ups to the senior Italian national team.

Similarly, there is little surprise in seeing links between Buongiorno and some of the biggest clubs in Serie A.

Inter have been among the teams most strongly linked to Buongiorno’s signature.

The Nerazzurri would be a fairly logical destination for Buongiorno in a number of respects.

Playing at Torino under Ivan Juric, the Italian has really found his feet playing in a back three.

And the role in the centre of the back three is one of the positions where the Nerazzurri are likely to make a signing for the future.

Buongiorno’s formidable ability to defend the penalty area in the central position of a defensive trio could therefore make the Granata player an ideal signing for Inter.

Asked what his biggest dreams are in football, the Torino defender replied that “The Champions League is one of them.”

“Of course I’d like to play in it,” the 24-year-old added.
