Inter Milan and AC Milan will meet in next month’s derby on a Monday.

The Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri had initially been scheduled to face off on Sunday, the 21st. But the fixture has been moved back one day.

This is to accommodate the European schedule of Milan.

The Rossoneri will be taking on Serie A rivals Roma in a Europa Legue quarterfinal tie the prior week.

Therefore, the Milan players will get one extra day to rest and prepare for the derby.

And as football statistics account Opta highlight, this marks something of a milestone for the fixture.

Opta tweeted, “1 – The next derby between AC Milan and Inter will be played on Monday for the first time ever, meaning the Milan derby will now have been played on all seven days of the week. Historic.”
