Genoa are keen on signing striker Francesco Pio Oristanio from Inter Milan as part of a deal for forward Albert Gudmundsson.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews.

At this stage, it is certainly no secret that Inter are interested in signing Gudmundsson this summer.

The 26-year-old has emerged as the Nerazzurri’s top target in attack. They want to sign him from Genoa in addition to bringing striker Mehdi Taremi in on a free transfer.

It is not as though there won’t be competition for Gudmundsson’s signature.

FCIN note how Juventus Sporting Director Cristiano Giuntoli met with the Icelander’s agent last month to sound out the possibility of a move.

But Inter are ready to try. And for his part, Gudmundsson would be keen on a move to the Nerazzurri.

Genoa Want Francesco Pio Esposito From Inter As Part Of Gudmundsson Deal

The sticking point for Inter would naturally be the price tag for Gudmundsson.

Genoa are not going to let the 26-year-old, who has scored ten goals and assisted a further three in Serie A this season, go for cheap.

FCIN confirm that the Grifone want at least 30 million to sell their star forward.

Inter’s strategy would be to try and lower this valuation by including a player going the other way as part of a deal.

And the Nerazzurri have already suggested the idea of young attacking midfielder Valentin Carboni.

Inter could offer the Argentine in a similar deal to that which saw midfielder Giovanni Fabbian join Bologna last summer, with a buyback option.

FCIN report that Genoa would indeed be interested in signing Carboni.

But the problem concerns Carboni’s valuation.

Inter would expect a valuation for the 18-year-old that is not far from the 30 million that Genoa want for Gudmundsson.

The Nerazzurri have already made clear that they would turn down bids in excess of €20 million for Carboni.

Therefore, the inclusion of the Argentine in a deal for Gudmundsson would likely mean that Genoa would not receive that high of a cash fee.

For the Ligurians, the priority is to cash in on the former AZ Alkmaar forward as much as possible.

Therefore, Genoa would not be terribly keen on such a deal.

As such, Inter have also put the possibility of other players on the table.

These have included wingback Mattia Zanotti and striker Gaetano Oristanio.

But according to FCIN, there is one player under contract with Inter who Genoa would have a particular interest in.

That is teenage striker Francesco Pio Orsitanio.

The 18-year-old is currently on loan with Spezia in Serie B. This comes after having impressed with Inter’s youth team in recent seasons.

And according to FCIN, Genoa would consider a cash-plus-player offer from the Nerazzurri for Gudmundsson that includes Pio Oristanio.
