Inter Milan wingback Carlos Augusto and midfielder Stefano Sensi are back in training ahead of next week’s Serie A match against Empoli.

This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews. The outlet also report that goalkeeper Yann Sommer should be fit to play in that match.

Inter are now a few days away from returning to Serie A action from the international break.

The Nerazzurri will host relegation-battling Empoli at the San Siro next Monday.

That match will be an opportunity to get back on track towards clinching the Serie A title.

But it certainly won’t be easy against a team with all the motivation in the world given that they are currently just one point clear of the relegation places in the table.

Today, the squad returned to training. And according to FCIN, there were a couple of boosts in the forms of players coming back from injury.

Carlos Augusto & Stefano Sensi Back In Training

Versatile wingback Augusto missed Inter’s last couple of matches before the international break.

The reason was a calf injury – an elongation of the soleus muscle in his right leg – that he had suffered in a Serie A match against Bologna earlier this month.

Augusto was a significant miss in the Champions League against Atletico Madrid in particular.

But the 25-year-old former Monza man was back in full training today.

Therefore, Augusto will be fit to be part of Inter’s squad to face Empoli on Monday.

Joining the Brazilian was midfielder Sensi. The 28-year-old had undergone ankle surgery in February, but was able to return to training today.

It would be an understatement to say that injuries have been a theme for the last couple years with Sensi. But the former Sassuolo could have a part to play in the final weeks of this season.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Sommer is quickly recovering from an ankle sprain. Therefore, the Swiss should be fit to face Empoli.

The same is not true of defender Stefan de Vrij, however.

The Dutchman’s thigh strain is not too serious. However, he will be back for the following match against Udinese at the earliest.
