Inter Milan are working on a plan to bring in Athletico Paranaense goalkeeper Bento but Chelsea have reportedly emerged as a competitor.

The Nerazzurri already tried to snap up the 24-year-old last summer after selling Andre Onana to Man Utd.

However, they couldn’t find an agreement with the Brazilian club which denied the player’s passage to Italy.

But according to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, Paranaense promised Bento that he would be free to leave for the right offer in the summer of 2024.

Therefore, Inter have revived their attempts to lure in the Brazilian shot-stopper.

The Nerazzurri would like to pair Bento with their current Number One Yann Sommer for next season.

The Brazilian would serve as an understudy for the Swiss veteran during the 2024/25 campaign. He would then become the undisputed starter in the following season.

This would be a similar arrangement to the one that ensued when Julio Cesar first arrived at the club. He eventually ended up usurping the more experienced Francesco Toldo.

Inter Milan Facing Chelsea Competiton For Brazil Goalkeeper Bento

Nevertheless, Bento’s recent appearances for Brazil could hinder Inter’s plans.

The custodian made his debut for the Selecao in the 1-0 win over England at Wembley in last week’s international friendly. He also made a second appearance in the 3-3 draw with Spain a few days later.

As the source explains, his exploits on the international stage attracted the interest of additional suitors.

The pink newspaper names Chelsea as his most vigorous admirer in the Premier League.

So while Paranaense were eventually planning to collect 15 million euros, they’re now looking to raise their asking price with a possible bidding war looming on the horizon.
