Inter Milan are keen to “let the pitch do the talking” when they take on Empoli in Serie A tomorrow evening.

Tomorrow evening, Inter return to Serie A action after two weeks away.

Over the last couple of weeks, the international break has seen much of the Nerazzurri’s squad away with their national teams.

And those players who did not get national team call-ups have stayed back to train and rest.

But it has been a far from quiet or uneventful break for Inter.

The Nerazzurri have seen defender Francesco Acerbi embroiled in a firestorm regarding his alleged racial abuse of Napoli’s Juan Jesus.

An investigation found the Inter defender not guilty of the offense. But it still served as a major distraction.

And then there is the matter of uncertainty regarding Inter’s owners.

With a deadline looming on a loan from Oaktree Capital, the sense is that this is a key turning point for Suning at Inter – and potentially the end of the road.

Inter Want To “Let The Pitch Do The Talking” Vs Empoli

All of these distractions, along with the fact that Inter exited the Champions League against Atletico Madrid shortly before the break, have risked derailing the season a bit.

The Nerazzurri are still in a commanding season at the top of the Serie A table.

But sometimes, the way that a team finishes a campaign is what leaves the most lasting impression.

Last time around, for example, Inter had a highly erratic season, losing twelve matches in Serie A. But over the run-in, the team’s form picked up greatly, culminating in a Coppa Italia win and Champions League final appearance.

Inter do not want this season to be the opposite of that.

The Nerazzurri are ready to try and right the ship against Empoli.
