Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, and Benjamin Pavard are all set to start for Inter Milan against Empoli tomorrow evening.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi is just about ready to name a starting eleven for the first time in two weeks.
The Nerazzurri return to action in Serie A after a couple weeks away during the international break.
And the coming weeks will see the team in action nine more times.
Inter face nine Serie A matches, starting with Empoli tomorrow. Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri are not in either European competition or the Coppa Italia after round of sixteen exits from both.
Lautaro, Thuram & Pavard To Start For Inter Vs Empoli
Inter have a fourteen-point gap at the top of the Serie A table. This would certainly seem to make them prohibitive favourites to clinch the title.
But that does not mean that there is any room for complacency.
And it is for that reason that Inzaghi is not going to think about squad rotation in the team’s first match back from the break.
Captain Lautaro Martinez will start in attack. The Argentine has been back from international duty for a couple days, and focusing on preparing for tomorrow evening’s match.
The priority for Martinez on a personal level will be to snap his goal drought at club level from the last month.
And Inzaghi will entrust the 26-year-old to power the team over the line for the title.
Partnering Martinez will be Thuram. The duo have been Inter’s first-choice strike partnership all season.
Thuram is one French international who will be straight back into the Inter starting eleven. The same is true of defender Benjamin Pavard, who will start on the right of the back three.
And on the right, Matteo Darmian will get the nod over Denzel Dumfries.
